There is no doubt that star Indian batter Shubman Gill is one of the best in the business currently. Being just 24 years old, Gill has established himself as one of the brightest prospects in world cricket, and his performances have left the best of bowlers stunned.

The opener put in excellent performances in the recently concluded Asia Cup 2023, as he scored 302 runs with a staggering average of 75.50. His showing helped India lift the Asia Cup title. Furthermore, his performances also propelled him to claim the second spot in the ICC ODI batter rankings.

Currently, Gill sits in second place with a rating of 814. It is worth noting that the 24-year-old is just behind the Pakistan skipper, Babar Azam, who sits in first place with a rating of 857. However, with India all set to take on Australia in a three-match ODI series that is scheduled to begin on Friday, September 22, Gill has a chance to climb up to rank 1, if he performs to the peak of his powers against Australia.

In order to dethrone Babar, Gill will need to score 200 runs to claim the top spot in the ICC ODI batter rankings. The 24-year-old will hope that he can score some much-needed runs for his side against Australia.
