Veteran Indian all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin was included in India’s squad for the upcoming series against Australia. It is worth noting that India take on Australia in a three-match ODI series that is scheduled to begin on Friday, September 22.

As the series looms around the corner, Ashwin was spotted at the NCA (National Cricket Academy) in Bangalore as he was practicing in the nets with the white ball. Furthermore, he is also scheduled to play a 50-over game before he takes the field for India to face Australia.

Ashwin will be playing a 50-over match in Chennai in the VAP Trophy’s one-day league. The 37-year-old will be playing for Take Solution MRPA as they take on Young Stars.

Ahead of the game, an official from the TNCA (Tamil Nadu Cricket Association) came forward to talk about Ashwin competing in the clash. The official opined that Ashwin wants to spend some time on the pitch.

“He wants to spend some time on the ground, and a 50-over game will provide him with that opportunity. He recently visited the NCA for routine maintenance work on his body and to hone his skills under the guidance of spin bowling coach Sairaj Bahutule. He’s determined to prepare himself comprehensively for any and all challenges,” the TNCA official was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.

Notably, Ashwin has only played two ODIs in the last six years, and the 50-over game in Chennai could help him get in the flow once again before India take on Australia in the three-match ODI series.

The Indian team has been informed that they will be meeting up in Chandigarh on September 20 before going to Mohali for the first ODI. Both India and Australia take on each other at the Inderjit Singh Bindra Stadium on September 22.

Furthermore, it is also worth noting that the ODI World Cup campaigns of both India and Australia will begin with both sides taking on each other in Chennai at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on October 8.
