The entire cricketing fraternity is eagerly waiting for India and Pakistan to lock horns against each other multiple times in the coming months. The excitement for the much-anticipated contest is palpable everywhere as players from both teams have also begun giving statements for the high-voltage clash. However, amid the several genuine statements, there’s a chance of a few fake statements slipping through into the public domain as well.

A similar fake news was brought to light by the Pakistan cricketer Iftikhar Ahmed who admonished an X user for spreading fake news. An X account having a blue tick recently claimed that Iftikhar said that whenever he plays a game against India it feels like they’re playing with street children

“Whenever we face India, it’s as if we’re playing against street children,” the post read.

Replying to the post, Iftikhar said that no professional cricketer would ever make such a statement and asked Elon Musk, the CEO of X to ban the account.

“I want to clarify that I have never made the statement being attributed to me. No professional cricketer would ever express such a sentiment. I implore everyone to cease sharing inaccurate information and to report the individual who is promoting hatred. @elonmusk, I kindly request you to consider banning this account due to its misuse of the verified status,” Iftikhar wrote.
