Indian opener Shubman Gill has climbed two spots and reached no. 2 in the ICC Men’s ODI rankings for batters. Shubman has been awarded for his intense batting showdown in the Asia Cup 2023. The right-handed batter has scored 154 runs in four innings with a remarkable average of 51.33, which contains two half-centuries. The 24-year-old has achieved his career-best ODI ranking wuth Pakistan skipper Babar Azam still maintaining his top spot in the list.

Gill has significantly narrowed the gap on Babar, as the margin at the top now stands at a mere 103 rating points. Babar is leading the way with 863 rating points, closely pursued by the Indian batter, who has garnered an impressive 759 points.

After a centurion knock of 122 against Pakistan, Virat Kohli has climbed two places to secure the eighth position in the table. At the same time, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma has made a similar jump to reach the ninth spot. This accomplishment marks the first instance in over four and a half years that India boasts three players within the top 10 of the ICC batter rankings.

Kuldeep Yadav’s ranking shoots up

Indian spinner Kuldeep Yadav has made a remarkable leap of five spots to claim the seventh position in the ICC ODI rankings for bowlers. His extraordinary performances, including a phenomenal 5/25 against Pakistan and 4/43 against Sri Lanka, were pivotal in his meteoric rise. The left armer has scalped an impressive nine wickets in just three innings during the ongoing Asia Cup 2023.

Australia seamer Josh Hazlewood has maintained his top spot and leads the ODI bowling rankings. The right-armer bowled an impressive spell of 3/41 in the first ODI of the ongoing series against South Africa.

When it comes to all rounders’ chart, Hardik Pandya has advanced  four spots to secure the sixth position. Pandya’s multifaceted contributions with bat and ball have propelled him to this elevated rank.
