India are locking horns with Bangladesh in the last Super 4 fixture of the Asia Cup 2023 on Friday, September 15 at R.Premadasa Stadium, Colombo. Indian captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and invited Bangladesh to bat first. The Shakib Al Hasan-led side responded by posting a decent total of 265/8 in their allotted 50 overs with their captain leading from the front with his knock of 80 (85).

In reply, India didn’t get off to the best of the starts as Rohit (0 off 2) and Tilak Varma (5 off 9) departed cheaply. However, Shubman Gill held one end and carried the innings forward with his sublime half-century. The 24-year-old reached the milestone in style as he danced down the track against Mahedi Hasan in the 20th over and launched him over deep wicket boundary for a maximum.

Gill sent the ball high soaring into the night sky as it sounded sweet the moment it left his bat. The opener completed his fifty off 61 balls and stabilised the Indian innings after early blows.
