Star Indian batter KL Rahul finally made his return to the Indian team after a long hiatus due to injury. It is worth noting that the 31-year-old sustained a thigh injury while playing for Lucknow Super Giants in the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023.

However, as he made his return against Pakistan in the Super Four stage of the Asia Cup 2023 on Sunday, September 10, Rahul came forward to open up about his injuries and how his recovery process went in the months leading up to the Asia Cup 2023.

“I got injured while trying to chase a ball, and my tendon snapped. I had a full-fledged tear; my tendon ripped apart from my quadricep. So when it happened, obviously me, my family, the franchise, the team—everybody had their fingers crossed hoping that wasn’t a big tear, it was a small strain, or I could get better in a couple of weeks,” KL Rahul said in a video shared by the BCCI.

“But once we did the scans in a couple of days, we knew it was a full tear, and it was quite clear that in terms of how I can get better from this injury, I would have to go under the knife and do surgery,” he added.

The star Indian batter also talked of his comeback to the Indian team. It is worth noting that Rahul replaced Shreyas Iyer in the Indian lineup against Pakistan, as the latter was ruled out at the last moment due to a back spasm. Speaking of his return, Rahul stated that he feels good and fit and that everything worked out as scheduled.

“I am feeling good, obviously good to be back with the team. It’s been quite some time that I’ve been away from the game but yeah, obviously happy to be back and yeah, everything worked out right on schedule. So, I’m happy that I could tick off all the boxes,” Rahul said.
